Can you give Ivy the best birthday gift of all?
A loving furever home.
Ivy is nearly 3 years old and her birthday is coming up very soon, her foster family says the best present ever would be for Ivy to be tucked up safe and happy in her very own furever home.
She is a Golden Retriever x Border Collie girl, and while she did get the golden good looks, it’s definitely her Border Collie side running the show – Ivy is super smart, cheeky, chatty, loyal and always thinking.
She can be a little standoffish with strangers at first, especially men, but give her about half an hour and she usually decides that people are not so bad after all. Once she know you, Ivy is a very sweet, loving girl with adorable freckles on her nose and a serious talent for lap cuddles – Ivy absolutely loves a good snuggle.
Ivy is a loyal little pocket rocket, but she is also strong minded! She needs an experienced owner who understands that clever girls like her don’t always mean “being easy” and understands that Ivy need structure as much as love.
Ivy has had a difficult start to life, so these are what she needs out of her perfect furever home:
A home where things are calm and predictable, because routine is what she needs.
A home with someone experienced, confident with dogs and who is able to give Ivy clear boundaries so she feel safe and knows what is expected of her.
Ivy needs to go to an only dog home - she does guard her food from other dogs, but not humans, and she can be bark-y at times.
A home with NO cats, pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, birds etc.) or children under the age of 15. Ivy has a strong prey drive and a dominant nature.
Ivy has come such a long way in foster care, she is growing in confidence every day and learning that people can be kind. If you’re patient, dog savvy and happy to be her safe place and leader, Ivy will love you with her whole heart.

Adoption Process
RGRV invests significant time getting to know our Goldies to ensure a perfect match between each dog’s needs and their new home. Ensuring the future wellbeing of both the dog and the new owner is our priority, and a good fit between the dog and the adopter is essential.
Minimum criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for adoption:
Age restrictions: we do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 10 years. This policy is strict due to the generally unknown history of our dogs, aiming to minimise potential risks.
Home requirements: your residence must have a securely enclosed outdoor area, with fencing and gates at least 1.5 metres high.
Yard size: typically, we do not place dogs in homes with small yards (less than the size of a double car garage), unless the dog is elderly and less space is suitable.
Housing type: we do not place dogs in apartment blocks, as our dogs generally require more space and a specific living environment.
Shelter: your yard must include a covered structural shelter, such as a covered verandah, entertainment area or open garage. A kennel or dog house does not provide adequate shelter.
Application process: the adoption questionnaire must be completed by the person(s) who will be named as the new owner(s). We cannot accept questionnaires completed on behalf of someone else, including family members.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
Prioritising Dog Needs: at RGRV, the welfare of our dogs is our top priority. This means that even if your application is approved, there may be a waiting period before a suitable dog becomes available. Your application will be placed on a waitlist during this time.
Waitlist Confirmation: you are required to confirm your continued interest in adopting every three months by emailing info@rgrv.org.au. Failure to confirm within this period will result in removal from the waitlist.
As RGRV is a charity run by unpaid volunteers, we ask for your patience as it may take time to respond to your application.
