Max is on the lookout for his very own forever humans.

Max is about 10 months old and is ridiculously handsome, very smoochy, and absolutely devoted to being involved in everything his humans do. He loves people, dogs, adventures, water, and is at his very happiest when he is right by your side.

No one really knows much about Max’s tiny puppy days, because he was abandoned on the side of the road in remote bushland. A kind person found him and kept Max safe, but they could not keep him forever - so he has come into the care of RGRV.

Max is a beautiful boy with a big heart and so much potential, who definitely want to be the centre of his humans’ world. He is still very much a puppy, so comes with a solid dose of puppy naughtiness. When Max gets excited and slips into silly play mode, he can get overstimulated, play too rough with his foster sister, jump up for cuddles, de-fluff beds, and “borrow” things that aren’t his. Max is still learning how to regulate himself.

His foster mum is training him to help with all of this, and Max is trying really hard - but he needs calm, experienced humans who know how to guide a big, boisterous pup through the cheeky gremlin phase and out the other side.

Max’s perfect home will need:

  • Someone home a lot, with plenty of patience and time to keep teaching him.

  • No full-time workers.

  • Humans with experience raising puppies and riding out the teenage phase.

  • Lots of outings – walks, adventures and social trips so that Max can keep learning about the world.

  • A safe, puppy-proof home (he has fast paws and curious teeth).

  • Either no resident dog, with regular doggy social time (Max loves daycare!), or a well-matched doggy friend and humans who can step in and help Max settle when he get too excited.

  • No cats, pocket pets or farm animals.

  • No children under the age of 16.

Max loves his crate and sleeps in it every night – it is his safe, cosy den – so he needs someone happy for Max to keep sleeping in his crate at his forever home.

He is a very sweet, clever, cuddly boy and, in the right home, Max is going to grow into the most beautiful best friend anyone could ask for – and you will be the absolute centre of his world. Max’s foster mum says that he is totally worth the effort, he just need kind, committed humans who understand that he is still learning how to dog.

If you’ve read all this, smiled at Max’s puppy chaos and still think “Yep, that’s my boy”, then please only apply for him if you truly can be his perfect match.

Adoption Process

RGRV invests significant time getting to know our Goldies to ensure a perfect match between each dog’s needs and their new home. Ensuring the future wellbeing of both the dog and the new owner is our priority, and a good fit between the dog and the adopter is essential.

Minimum criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for adoption:

  • Age restrictions: we do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 10 years. This policy is strict due to the generally unknown history of our dogs, aiming to minimise potential risks.

  • Home requirements: your residence must have a securely enclosed outdoor area, with fencing and gates at least 1.5 metres high.

  • Yard size: typically, we do not place dogs in homes with small yards (less than the size of a double car garage), unless the dog is elderly and less space is suitable.

  • Housing type: we do not place dogs in apartment blocks, as our dogs generally require more space and a specific living environment.

  • Shelter: your yard must include a covered structural shelter, such as a covered verandah, entertainment area or open garage. A kennel or dog house does not provide adequate shelter.

  • Application process: the adoption questionnaire must be completed by the person(s) who will be named as the new owner(s). We cannot accept questionnaires completed on behalf of someone else, including family members.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

Prioritising Dog Needs: at RGRV, the welfare of our dogs is our top priority. This means that even if your application is approved, there may be a waiting period before a suitable dog becomes available. Your application will be placed on a waitlist during this time.

Waitlist Confirmation: you are required to confirm your continued interest in adopting every three months by emailing info@rgrv.org.au. Failure to confirm within this period will result in removal from the waitlist.

As RGRV is a charity run by unpaid volunteers, we ask for your patience as it may take time to respond to your application.
